Amy's Kitchen
Adaptive reuse that reconnects people and community.
Morgan was brought into Quezada Architecture to lead the interior architecture for this adaptive reuse of a historic downtown Petaluma building. A former department store has been reimagined as a home for Amy’s Kitchen — and as a place to gather, host, and connect with the community.
At the center of the project is a tasting and demonstration kitchen, anchoring a three-story atrium that brings light, energy, and focus to the building. The workplace reflects the client’s interest in fostering communication and connection, shaping a series of flexible touchdown spaces that support how people actually work.
A full seismic retrofit, new systems, and the insertion of a mezzanine layer new life into the existing structure — tying together old and new. The project stands as a model for adaptive reuse, combining sustainability, energy performance, and thoughtful design to extend the life of a historic building.
